SUMMARY OF MAJOR DUTIES:
Responsible for the overall management of assigned projects throughout the design, manufacture, delivery and installation to ensure the project is completed on budget and on time. Responsible for project compliance to SailRail Quality System and completion of Project Control Plans.
This position requires that the incumbent be familiar with Microsoft Project, Microsoft Word and Excel. They must complete requisitions, chair Critical Design and Kick-off Meetings, compare proposal costs Vs design to build cost. Requisitions, packing slips, invoices, Engineering change notices and FMEA's are all tracked by the project manager.
A project manager should be a good communicator and well organized. Prompt reporting and feedback to the customer, internal departments, fabricators and suppliers will ensure project success.
Project Management includes the effective management of project administration staff and resource planning for the life cycle of the project.

| Budget and Schedule Control |
- Anticipate and resolve any problems, bottlenecks or scheduling conflicts.
- Prepare and maintain project schedules using Gantt charts and monitor progress to achieve on-time or earlier deliveries.
- Track and control project costs staying within or under budget.
- Prepare Financial Reviews and Project Summaries (a Closing Report) at completion of a project

| Communications |
- Establish and maintain good communications with the Customer on project issues and concerns.
- Maintain good communications with in-house and contract engineering staff, manufacturers, suppliers, and installation crews regarding all aspects of the project from project inception through to equipment installation and closing report.
- Co-ordinate efforts of all team members by supplying them the necessary information and ensuring that it is used correctly.
- Attend meetings at customer and/or assembly facility (some travel required) for equipment reviews and runoffs
- Chair Project Kick-off Meetings
- Chair FMEA Meetings
- Chair Critical Design Reviews on assigned projects.

| Resource Planning |
- Assess resource requirements for assigned projects and coordinate these requirements with the Projects Manager to determine staffing levels.

| Project Administration & Documentation |
- Maintain log of project Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders.
- Maintain a log of technical, production and other issues and resolutions.
- Document and resolve any customer change order or extras requests.
- Ensure all Quality System documentation relating to projects is utilized and completed.
- Participate in the preparation and checking of Operations and Maintenance Manuals.
- Compile and maintain Project binder and records.
- Track Project Costs in conjunction with the Engineering Department to meet 'Design to Cost' objectives.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Five Years Project Management Experience (Project Values from $100K to $2,000,000)
- Preferably with two or more years automotive experience
- Detailed oriented, able to track and organize information data and communications efficiently to ensure project issues are dealt with promptly and properly
- Personable with excellent communication and writing skills
- Preferably P. Eng. (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project (Gantt Charts)
- Working knowledge of ISO9001 and TE9000 Quality Systems
- Able to travel to customers job sites within Canada and the U.S.
